The Posting

QA/QC Inspector | Cleveland, OH | $65,000 - $85,000 | Direct Hire |

Mural Group is partnering with a Great Lakes marine company and active shipyard in Cleveland, Ohio to place two QA/QC Inspectors at their Cleveland facility. This is a field-based quality role embedded in a working shipyard environment supporting new vessel construction and repair projects. CWI certification is preferred and will push your compensation toward the top of the range. The right person for this seat is a working inspector with multi-trade coverage, not someone who sits behind a desk reviewing paperwork.

What You Will Do

  • Review work packages before work begins for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with contract specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform in-process work surveillance and monitor workmanship standards across multiple trades throughout the shipyard.
  • Execute inspections per the QA/QC plan and documented inspection procedures and record all findings accurately.
  • Coordinate with USCG inspectors and ABS surveyors to ensure vessels are built and repaired to contract and classification standards.
  • Support non-destructive testing activities across multiple NDT methods as needed.
  • Maintain calibration and certification records for all test equipment, welder qualification certs, and the quality reference library.
  • Track key quality metrics, control systems, and recordkeeping for all testing and inspection activity.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on field inspection experience in a shipyard, heavy fabrication, or industrial construction environment. This is not a desk job.
  • CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification preferred and compensated accordingly at the top of the range.
  • Willingness and ability to cover multiple trades and support various NDT methods, not just a single discipline.
  • Familiarity with USCG regulations and ABS classification rules, or the demonstrated ability to gain that knowledge quickly.
  • Strong documentation discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to hold the line on quality standards under production pressure.
  • Bilingual Spanish is a meaningful advantage given the workforce composition at this shipyard.

What the Role Offers

  • $65,000 to $85,000 depending on CWI status and experience level
  • Direct hire from day one
  • Full benefits: medical, hospitalization, vision, dental, life, and disability
  • 401(k) with company match after one year
  • Stable, shore-based role at a single Cleveland location
