The Posting

About the company

Our client is a law firm.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own a caseload of plaintiff-side civil disputes, taking matters from the initial pleading stage to a final outcome, including courtroom advocacy. The work blends writing and arguing court papers, building the factual record and keeping clients updated, alongside seasoned trial lawyers.

What you'll do

  • Run plaintiff-side matters end to end, covering pretrial discovery, contested motions and jury trials.
  • Prepare, submit and argue court papers such as discovery motions, general motion practice and responses to summary judgment requests.
  • Investigate the facts of each matter to establish fault and quantify losses.
  • Keep clients updated and walk them through each phase of their case.
  • Partner with fellow attorneys and legal staff to shape and carry out case strategy.
  • Take on complex matters and grow your courtroom skills through mentoring from senior lawyers.

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • At least 3 years of plaintiff-side civil litigation experience with significant courtroom exposure.
  • A minimum of 3 civil jury trials tried to a verdict.
  • Background at a firm representing plaintiffs rather than defendants.
  • Proven ability to move cases forward independently from start to finish.
  • A law degree (JD) and active, good-standing admission to the Illinois bar.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish.
  • Solid command of state procedural rules and substantive law in this practice area.
  • Empathetic, clear communication with clients throughout lengthy proceedings.
  • Authorization to work in the US.
