About Slang AI

Slang AI is redefining customer engagement through conversational AI, making every interaction seamless and efficient. Our mission is to transform the restaurant industry by providing the ultimate voice AI solution for consistently outstanding customer experiences.

At Slang AI, we believe how we build matters just as much as what we build. We foster a culture rooted in hospitality, ownership, and clarity, where every “Slangsta” feels valued, supported, and connected to the broader impact of our work in the AI-powered future of restaurants.

How We Use AI in Hiring

Slang AI uses AI tools to help review applications, and a person makes every hiring decision. No one is rejected by AI alone: a member of our team reviews your actual application before any decision. To learn more about how we use AI, to ask for a person to review your application without an AI step, or to request an accommodation, let your recruiter know.

Using AI During Your Application

You’re welcome to use AI tools to prepare, for example to polish your résumé or practice interview questions. During live interviews and assessments, please don’t use AI tools to generate your answers unless we say it’s allowed. To make sure we’re speaking with you, we’ll ask you to have your camera on for at least one live interview. If you can’t use a camera, let us know and we’ll find another way.

Equal Opportunity at Slang

Slang AI is an equal opportunity employer. We hire based on qualifications, merit, and business need. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, ancestry, citizenship or immigration status, age, disability, pregnancy, marital or partnership status, caregiver status, genetic information, military or veteran status, height, weight, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law. We consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records in a manner consistent with the NYC Fair Chance Act and applicable law. If you need a reasonable accommodation at any point in the application or interview process, let your recruiter know.

What Your Experience Will Be

As a Sales Development Representative at Slang AI, you’ll be at the very front end of our growth engine: the person who first opens the door for our sales team to transform the way restaurants serve their guests. Day to day, your work lives in the outbound motion: researching restaurant operators who fit our Ideal Customer Profile, crafting compelling cold emails and LinkedIn messages, and picking up the phone to start real conversations with decision-makers. You’ll be fast, disciplined, and creative, because getting through to busy operators takes all three.

You’ll work closely with your hiring manager and Account Executives, handing off warm, well-qualified opportunities and collaborating with Marketing on campaigns and messaging. This role reports to the regional Sales Director, a hands-on coach invested in your growth who runs weekly team trainings and 1:1 sessions where you’ll dissect calls, iterate on sequences, and celebrate wins together. This is a fully remote role within the U.S., with occasional travel for team offsites, company events, and key industry conferences. You’ll use HubSpot and AI tools that sharpen your prospecting and personalization. If you love the energy of a great conversation, the satisfaction of hitting a number, and the challenge of figuring out the most effective way to break through, this is your seat.

Why You Belong Here and How You Will Grow

At Slang AI, we recruit with intention and we build with care. Our team is competitive, but the competition is additive, not corrosive: the best performers share their playbooks, because a rising tide lifts all ships.

You’ll grow here because we build growth in from the start. Your first 30 days include product immersion, shadowing AEs, learning our ICP inside and out, and calibrating your outreach with your manager before your activity ramps up. After that, weekly team training, peer coaching, and a culture of transparency around metrics mean you always know how you’re tracking and what to do about it. Slang’s values (AI Native, Overachiever Fever, Humility Ability, and Be a Good Host) aren’t posters on a wall; they’re the actual operating principles of the team you’re joining.

Being AI Native isn’t an afterthought here. We use AI in how we sell, how we prospect, and how we iterate on copy. You’ll learn how to use these tools to multiply your output in ways most SDR teams haven’t caught up to yet, and that’s a real career advantage you’ll carry with you. Whether you’re aiming for an AE role, leadership, or something else entirely, you’ll leave Slang with sharper instincts, better habits, and a network of people who want to see you win.

What Success Looks Like

  • You proactively identify and research restaurant operators that match our Ideal Customer Profile, building a pipeline of well-qualified prospects week over week.
  • You execute with daily discipline: 100+ outbound touchpoints per day and 5+ new prospects added to pipeline, regardless of how the previous day went.
  • You consistently set 40+ qualified appointments per month (3+ locations), resulting in 20+ completed per month, handing off to Account Executives with enough context for them to run a great discovery call.
  • You use active listening and smart questioning in your outreach and early conversations to surface real pain points around staffing, call volume, and guest experience.
  • You collaborate openly with your AEs and the Marketing team, sharing what’s resonating in the field and contributing to a unified, high-impact go-to-market message.
  • You use AI tools and your own creativity to continuously test and improve your outreach sequences, subject lines, and call openers.
  • You track your own funnel metrics with precision and come to 1:1s with data, hypotheses, and a clear plan to close the gap when you’re behind.

What You Will Bring

  • Experience in outbound sales, cold calling, or SDR/BDR work: you’ve made the calls, sent the sequences, and learned what works.
  • Strong verbal and written communication: you can hook attention fast, run high-quality prospect discovery, and articulate value without jargon.
  • A competitive nature grounded in curiosity: you want to know how you rank, why you rank there, and what you’re going to do about it.
  • Process orientation with adaptability: you thrive on structure and routine, and you can pivot your approach when the data tells you to.
  • Active listening as a real skill, not a talking point: you take in what prospects say and reflect it back in ways that make them feel understood.
  • AI fluency: you actively use AI tools in your day-to-day work for research, copy iteration, and productivity. Not just awareness, but real, habitual use.
  • Humility and an appetite for feedback: you don’t just tolerate coaching, you seek it out.
  • Preferred: experience in SaaS, hospitality technology, or selling to restaurant operators, and familiarity with tools like HubSpot, Salesforce, Outreach, Apollo, or LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

How Work Affects My Life

Your role as a Sales Development Representative will be the launchpad that shapes how you think about sales, persuasion, and value creation for the rest of your career, and you’ll do it while contributing to something that makes life better for restaurants and their teams.

  • Fully remote within the U.S., with occasional travel to headquarters and company offsites
  • Competitive base salary plus uncapped commission tied directly to your performance
  • Comprehensive benefits, including health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Professional development: coaching, tools, and a clear path to advancement
  • Contribute to a company mission that is transforming the restaurant and hospitality industry

This role will sharpen the way you see opportunity: you’ll get better at reading people, at finding the right door, and at the kind of disciplined optimism that makes great salespeople rare.

Our Vision

Calling a business shouldn’t feel like a robot-hostage situation, where you’re forced to listen to horrible music and can’t reach a human, while enduring a soulless voice uttering “I’m sorry, I didn’t quite get that” on repeat for eternity. (Shudder.) That’s why we started Slang AI. We use the latest AI and audio wizardry to make transacting via voice so enjoyable it’s more human than human. By 2030, we will save businesses and consumers 1 billion minutes of precious time while transforming voice channels into the preferred mode of communication (it’s faster and easier than text).

We have backgrounds building product at companies like Spotify, BuzzFeed, the New York Times, and OpenTable, shipping experiences that have reached hundreds of millions of users. Now, we’re using our backgrounds to build a culture that puts product and human-centered design above all else while fostering constant learning and growth. Sound like something you’d like to be part of? Get on board.

Our Values

  • AI Native. We don’t just sell AI. We are AI.
  • Overachiever Fever. We’re overachievers (we don’t know any other way).
  • Humility Ability. We approach each other with curiosity and openness (know-it-alls not welcome!).
  • Be a Good Host. We build for hospitality. We should embody it.
