You’ll manage multiple customer engagements at once and bring a strong understanding of energy-using systems such as central plants, HVAC, lighting and process loads. You will also merge the technical with the human element to add value for each customer site. The aim is to help each participant build lasting energy management practices and measurable savings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach and motivate facility and plant teams, from operators to senior management, to adopt SEM practices and sustain energy savings.
  • Deliver SEM engagements per the CA SEM Design Guide, including workshops, one-on-one coaching, energy-use baselining and tracking, and site improvement plans.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and participant companies, keeping schedules, milestones and savings goals on track and escalating issues early.
  • Facilitate training workshops, onsite energy audits and site walk-throughs to identify energy savings opportunities.
  • Analyze system and process performance using monitoring equipment, utility data and statistical analysis.
  • Write clear reports and recommendations for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Build client trust and show the value of SEM so participants stay engaged and savings keep growing.
  • Mentor junior coaches and help refine SEM tools and materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in energy efficiency, facilities or industrial operations, including experience with energy-using systems at large commercial and/or industrial sites.
  • Proven project management skills, including managing multiple projects at once.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching and facilitation skills, with the ability to work with different personalities and drive results.
  • Proficiency in Excel (formulas, charting, data interpretation), Word (styles, cross-referencing, professional layout) and PowerPoint (slide masters, consistent branding, clear and engaging design).

Preferred

  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, change management, or Lean/Six Sigma principles.
  • Prior SEM coaching experience and statistical modeling skills.
