Job Description: Registered Nurse - Oncology Clinic

PRN; Shift Varies

The Registered Nurse Oncology Clinic Nurse is responsible for supporting Medical Oncologist in the Oncology clinic.

• The Registered Nurse Oncology Clinic Nurse assists with patient preparation, clinic visits, orders, follow up, education, documentation, coordination of care, data collection, procedures, and any other duties that lead to efficiency within the Oncology Clinic.
• Assists with clinic flow and efficiency.
• Meets with all patients in the clinic.
• Obtains ROS, performs medication reconciliation and gathers any pertinent information for the patient’s visit.
• Ensures all tests, treatments and referrals are ordered.
• Follows up with all ordered tests, treatments, and referrals.
• Assists physician with treatment orders, medication orders and refills.
• Maintains accurate documentation of observations, treatment, teaching, medications and patient responses, pain and distress assessment, critical labs and all other care rendered.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution.
• An Associate of Science in Nursing (ADN) degree from an accredited institution with 10+ years of Oncology experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
• Current unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Kentucky required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred on hire and required within 90 days of hire.
• ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy card required within 90 days of hire.
• Must obtain Oncology Certified Nurse certification within 2 years of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years' experience as a Registered Nurse in Outpatient Medical Oncology preferred.
