The Posting
About the company
Our client is an early-stage software company.
The role
Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Join a very small engineering group as an experienced hands-on engineer who also acts as a product owner. You will deliver new user-facing features and AI-driven functionality, help define technical direction and quality standards, and coach less experienced engineers as the team expands.
What you'll do
- Lead the new build for upcoming enterprise client deliverables, along with related updates to an existing consumer application.
- Work directly with company leadership to shape the product roadmap for the coming months and year.
- Build, debug and evaluate LLM-based agents, including prompt design and testing harnesses.
- Take ownership of security and compliance readiness within the first 90 days.
- Mentor and lead other engineers by assigning work, reviewing code and helping hire future teammates.
Requirements
What we're looking for
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 6 to 10 years ideal.
- Experience taking user-facing products from zero to one at a startup or a leading product company.
- Proven ability to build both front-end and back-end features, using React, Python and a major cloud platform.
- Hands-on experience running LLM-powered features in production, including coordinating multiple agents, designing inputs, testing quality, adding safeguards and monitoring behavior.
- Experience coaching and guiding other engineers.
- A high bar for quality, strong ownership, low ego and good judgment about how decisions affect end users.
- Ability to work on-site five days a week in Boston.
- U.S. work authorization.
Bonus points
- Prior work as a founding engineer or in a technical leadership role.
- Background in healthcare or another regulated field.
- Familiarity with security and privacy compliance frameworks.
- Interest in user interface craft and experience with design tools.
- Degree from a top-tier university, or equivalent experience.
