About the unit

3D is a Medical-Surgical unit located at Blodgett Hospital that is dedicated to care for complex medical patients as well as being distinguished as a Primary Stroke Center of Excellence. This unit is an excellent place to build your clinical experience, develop your skills, and grow in your career. Team members are often drawn to 3D for the variety of patients and skills utilized. Some of the patient types we routinely see are respiratory illnesses, acute kidney injuries, stroke, diabetic care, seizures, GI bleed and other acute GI illnesses, sickle cell crisis, pancreatitis, and psychiatric care. 3D Nurses are also trained in the NIH Stroke Scale competency.

Scope of work

Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications

Associates in Nursing Required

Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years

MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required

AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
