The Posting

The Nippon Express (NX) Group is a leading global logistics and supply chain company, connecting businesses across air, ocean, road and rail. With more than 76,000 colleagues across 57 countries and regions, we bring together international reach and local expertise to create smart, reliable supply chain solutions.

Guided by our promise, “We Find the Way,” we keep goods and businesses moving around the world.

We’re looking for an experienced Road Freight Operator to join our team in Biggleswade. You’ll play a key part in coordinating import and export shipments. From accepting bookings and preparing customs paperwork to working with the warehouse and our customs team, you’ll help keep each movement on track from start to finish.

This is a hands-on, varied role for someone who knows their way around road freight and enjoys bringing people and moving parts together. You’ll be a go-to contact for clients and suppliers, keeping them in the loop with clear, proactive updates. When plans change or questions come up, you’ll take a proactive approach and find a practical solution.

If you take pride in getting the details right, enjoy a fast-moving environment and know that good communication keeps freight moving, we’d love to hear from you. No two days are quite the same - and that’s part of the appeal.

Requirements

What you’ll do?

  • Process import and export bookings from our pricing team, adding each shipment to our transport management system (TMS).
  • Help plan and build export groupage trailers, coordinating trailer bookings and loading requirements.
  • Provide operational cover for full truckload and less-than-truckload (FTL/LTL) movements.
  • Prepare export customs entries, T1 documents and other trailer paperwork.
  • Coordinate the exchange of export documents with groupage drivers.
  • Work with our customs team to support import clearances.
  • Stay in close contact with clients and suppliers, sharing updates and dealing with queries proactively.
  • Work with the warehouse team to sort out discrepancies, damage and trailer requirements.
  • Help with invoicing and keep shipment records accurate.

What you’ll bring?

  • Experience in road freight operations, ideally covering import and export movements.
  • A good understanding of groupage and export documentation, with experience in customs or T1 documentation.
  • Clear, confident communication with customers, suppliers, colleagues and drivers.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and good attention to detail.
  • Confidence using a TMS and other day-to-day computer systems.

Benefits

What can we offer?

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • 25 days holiday
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment
  • Exposure to international markets and logistics networks
  • Stable position within a global top 10 Forwarder

Why join us?

You’ll be part of a team where good communication and reliable coordination make a real difference to customers and colleagues. If you enjoy a varied role, take pride in getting the details right and like working with people across the freight journey, we’d love to hear from you.
