The Opportunity

The Project Manager leads utility infrastructure projects, including distribution rebuilds, substation construction, and transmission upgrades. You will guide delivery from early contractor involvement and pre-construction planning through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout, keeping field execution aligned with project commitments.

This opportunity suits an experienced project leader who is comfortable making decisions, maintaining a strong site presence, and taking ownership of delivery outcomes. You will work closely with clients, field leaders, and technical teams to resolve constraints, manage commercial risks, and deliver safe, productive, and cost-effective construction.

Key Elements of the Role

  • Lead project delivery from early contractor involvement, pre-construction planning, and constructability reviews through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly field planning, permitting, mobilization, materials, and equipment. Monitor schedule performance and implement recovery plans when required.
  • Align engineering deliverables and procurement activities with construction sequencing, resolve or escalate constraints, and ensure field work follows issued-for-construction drawings and project requirements.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost reporting, tracking production, installed quantities, and subcontractor performance against scope and budget.
  • Support scope validation, change pricing, and client approvals, and identify commercial risks and mitigation measures to protect project outcomes.
  • Lead safety engagement, field audits, and incident and near-miss reviews. Reinforce hazard controls and corrective actions, and integrate environmental requirements into work plans and subcontractor scopes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for clients, Indigenous partners, regulators, and internal stakeholders, leading progress meetings, milestone reporting, and issue resolution.
  • Oversee quality systems, Inspection and Test Plans, field verification, redlines, as-built records, and turnover requirements, coordinating with Project Controls to maintain accurate progress and schedule information.

What You’ll Bring

  • Five to eight or more years of progressive project management experience in utility, civil, or infrastructure construction.
  • Required experience managing projects through early contractor involvement (ECI), pre-construction, and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) delivery phases.
  • A strong background in field execution and multidisciplinary construction delivery, including management of subcontractors, schedules, budgets, and changing site conditions.
  • Solid understanding of construction drawings, scopes of work, and contract requirements.
  • Proficiency in project management systems such as Procore, SAP, Microsoft Project, and related reporting tools.
  • A diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • PMP, CET, or equivalent certification is an asset.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to align project teams and take ownership of execution.
