About ACC

Australian Christian College (ACC) is a protestant non-denominational, Christian Education organisation, whose mission is to develop each and every student to be equipped spiritually, academically, socially and physically to flourish into their full potential, and be a positive influence on the world around them. ACC is wholeheartedly committed to excellence in education so that students are “well known, well loved, and well taught” by dedicated trained Christian staff.

ACC is part of Christian Education Ministries, with 17 schools in 5 states, and is also the largest non-government Distance Education provider in Australia.

About ACC Launceston

Our Launceston Campus in Tasmania is a K-10 co-ed Christian school. While the school community is still relatively small (120+), the growth over the past five years has been strong and sustained as is the school’s learning environment and culture.

About the opportunity

ACC Launceston is inviting expressions of interest from qualified teachers who would like to join our casual relief teaching pool.

Casual Relief Teachers provide valuable support when permanent teachers are absent and help maintain continuity of learning for our students. Opportunities may be available across both primary and secondary year levels, depending on your qualifications, experience and the operational needs of the College.

Assignments may range from individual days to short blocks of work. While casual engagements cannot be guaranteed, joining our relief pool allows you to be considered when suitable opportunities arise.

Key responsibilities include:

  • delivering lessons and learning activities prepared by the usual classroom teacher;
  • establishing a positive, orderly and engaging classroom environment;
  • supporting the learning, wellbeing and pastoral care of students;
  • managing student behaviour consistently with College expectations;
  • completing attendance records and providing relevant handover information; and
  • contributing positively to the Christian culture and community of the College.

Requirements

You will be a suitably qualified teacher who:

  • is committed to the Christian faith and able to actively support the Christian mission and values of the College;
  • holds, or is eligible to hold, current teacher registration in Tasmania;
  • holds a current Working with Vulnerable People registration for employment;
  • is confident establishing positive relationships and managing a classroom;
  • demonstrates flexibility, reliability and professional judgement;
  • communicates effectively with students, colleagues and school leaders;
  • is willing to teach across a range of year levels or subject areas appropriate to your qualifications and experience; and
  • has current Australian working rights.

Applications from experienced teachers, early-career teachers and teachers returning to the profession are welcomed.

Benefits

  • $57.33 - $79.32 hourly rate (experience dependent)
  • Authentic Christian team and work environment.
  • Health & wellbeing benefits program.
