About DESRI

DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 13 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 85 renewable energy projects in 24 states.

At DESRI, our culture is grounded in rigorous analytics and thoughtful risk-taking, with a strong emphasis on creativity, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement. We operate with lean teams that prioritize efficiency and minimize unnecessary bureaucracy, enabling individuals to take ownership and move quickly. We value open, constructive dialogue and believe it leads to better outcomes. Above all, we are driven to go the extra mile and support one another, fostering a collaborative environment built on accountability, integrity, and care.

About the role

DESRI seeks talented and highly motivated analysts or associates (title and compensation commensurate with experience) to join its Investment & Acquisitions team. The team is responsible for evaluating and executing investments, acquisitions, financings, and other strategic transactions across DESRI’s portfolio of renewable energy and energy storage projects.

This role offers the opportunity to gain exposure to the full lifecycle of DESRI’s investments, from initial underwriting and transaction structuring through financing, construction, and operations. You’ll work closely with senior members of the Investment & Acquisitions team and colleagues across DESRI to analyze opportunities, support transaction execution, and inform investment decisions.

What you'll do

You’ll be responsible for building and maintaining financial models to support management investment decisions, with a focus on evaluating project returns, analyzing capital structures, identifying risks and potential upside, and presenting analytical findings in a clear and concise manner.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models to evaluate project economics, investment returns, financing structures, and transaction alternatives.
  • Support financial, commercial, and other due diligence processes, including coordinating third-party deliverables and reviewing findings.
  • Analyze investment opportunities and identify key risks, potential upside, and value creation opportunities.
  • Assist transaction leads in evaluating and structuring acquisitions, financings, and opportunistic sales.
  • Support the negotiation and execution of definitive documentation for debt and tax equity financings.
  • Evaluate acquisitions and other investment opportunities across new projects and DESRI’s existing portfolio.
  • Prepare investment materials, presentations, and analyses to communicate findings and recommendations to senior management.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external advisors throughout transaction processes.
  • Support projects throughout development, construction, financing, and operations as investment and transaction needs arise.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have an undergraduate degree and 0-2 years of experience to be considered at the Analyst level. Additional years of experience are expected at the Associate level.
  • Strong financial modeling capabilities, particularly in Excel.
  • Demonstrated interest in investment analysis, transaction execution, project finance, infrastructure investing, investment banking, private equity, renewable energy, or related fields.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to identify and clearly communicate key investment considerations, risks, and opportunities.
  • A record of academic and professional achievement, well-developed communication skills, the ability to collaborate well with a small team, strong organizational skills when working on multiple projects, and a high level of motivation are all vital to this role.
  • Demonstrated interest in renewable energy projects and/or electricity markets in the United States.
  • At DESRI, we consider a wide range of factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The expected annual base salary for this position is $100,000–$140,000.
  • Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, paid time off, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.
