The Posting

We are the recruitment partner for our client, a well-established and award-winning food manufacturer, supporting them in their search for a hands-on Kitchen Supervisor to join their production operation near Deeping St James.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a respected family-run business producing a range of high-quality cooked food products. As Kitchen Supervisor, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the cooked food kitchen, leading a small team whilst ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, safely and to the highest quality standards.

This role is ideal for an experienced production, manufacturing or kitchen supervisor who enjoys leading people, improving processes and working alongside their team in a fast-paced environment

About the role:

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the cooked food kitchen, overseeing a team of five staff producing a range of products including pies, sausage rolls and Scotch eggs.

This is a hands-on supervisory position. You'll lead by example, supporting the team throughout the day while ensuring production targets, quality standards and customer requirements are achieved.

Starting at 5:00am, you will organise the daily production schedule, allocate labour resources, monitor progress throughout the shift and ensure products are produced safely, efficiently and on time

In particular, you will:

  • Lead, motivate and support a team of production operatives
  • Set up production plans and ensure resources are in place to meet demand
  • Monitor productivity and support KPI achievement
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and health & safety compliance
  • Work alongside the team during busy periods to support production output
  • Drive continuous improvements in efficiency, quality and waste reduction
  • Ensure machinery, ingredients and resources are available when required
  • Support training and development across the team

Who we are looking for:

  • Previous management experience within a food production or manufacturing environment
  • Strong production planning and workforce scheduling skills
  • Experience monitoring KPIs, productivity and operational performance
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop production teams
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to solve problems effectively
  • Good knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety and manufacturing best practices

Experience within a butchery, bakery, meat processing or food manufacturing environment would be advantageous but is not essential

In return we are offering:

  • Competitive salary of £32,000 - £36,000 depending on experience
  • 48-hour contracted working week
  • Monday to Friday working pattern, typically 5:00am - 3:00pm
  • Paid morning break
  • Ad-hoc weekend working as required, operating on a rota basis across Saturdays and Sundays
  • Time off in lieu for regular Saturday/Sunday working (currently approximately once per month)
  • Opportunity to lead and shape a growing production operation
  • Friendly, supportive and team-focused working environment
  • Staff discount
  • On-site parking
  • Company pension
