Job Description: The Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Shared Services Engineering organization, supporting our Brokerage Notification and Messaging Platforms. In this role, you will contribute to the development of the Event Distribution Platform and help modernize the Fidelity Electronic Notification System (FENS) from a legacy mainframe-based solution into a scalable, cloud-native, event-driven BNS platform. These platforms will enable real-time, compliant, and personalized communications for millions of Retail and Institutional Brokerage clients.

As part of a collaborative and highly skilled engineering team, you will work alongside software engineers, architects, product owners, and business partners to build modern event-driven solutions that support Fidelity's strategic messaging and communication capabilities. You'll have the opportunity to work with cloud technologies, event streaming platforms, modern APIs, and distributed systems while contributing to solutions that operate at enterprise scale.

We value innovation, continuous learning, teamwork, and engineering excellence. You will be empowered to solve challenging technical problems, contribute new ideas, and grow your expertise in cloud-native and event-driven architectures.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • 6 plus years of expertise in Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka, event streaming patterns, and scalable messaging platforms.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Experience designing and building cloud-native solutions on AWS.
  • Experience building and supporting software engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD, and fast-paced development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn emerging technologies and modern software architecture patterns.
  • Passion for solving complex engineering challenges and delivering innovative, business-critical solutions.

The Team

The Brokerage Record Keeping Technology (BRT) Shared Services Engineering Notification team builds and supports Fidelity’s core alerting systems. The team delivers real-time alerts across Fidelity Institutional, Institutional Wealth Management Services, Workplace Investing, and Wealth businesses.

Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues.
