The Posting

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Electrical Project Manager to lead commercial electrical construction projects from initial planning through installation, commissioning, and final turnover. The ideal candidate has a proven track record working for a self-performing commercial electrical contractor and can independently manage project budgets, schedules, field operations, and client relationships.

This role requires strong technical knowledge of commercial electrical systems, hands-on project management experience, and the ability to coordinate field teams and project stakeholders while maintaining quality, safety, and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial electrical construction projects from budgeting and initial planning through installation, commissioning, and final turnover.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, procurement plans, staffing requirements, and cost forecasts to support timely and profitable project delivery.
  • Coordinate superintendents, foremen, electricians, vendors, subcontractors, and general contractors throughout project execution.
  • Review contracts, electrical drawings, and technical specifications to verify project requirements and identify design conflicts.
  • Manage change orders, RFIs, submittals, material procurement, billing, and project documentation.
  • Monitor job costs, labor productivity, cash flow, and budget variances, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Collaborate with estimating, preconstruction, BIM/VDC, and field teams to align design, pricing, and construction activities.
  • Resolve design conflicts, installation challenges, material delays, and scheduling issues to minimize project disruptions.
  • Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, workmanship standards, and jobsite safety requirements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of project management experience with a commercial electrical contractor.
  • Previous experience working for a self-performing commercial electrical contractor is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage commercial electrical projects from initial planning through completion.
  • Strong understanding of electrical installations, construction sequencing, field supervision, and commercial building systems.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, procurement, workforce allocation, cost forecasting, billing, and change orders.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications, contracts, and construction schedules.
  • Experience coordinating preconstruction, estimating, BIM/VDC, and field operations.
  • Knowledge of electrical labor productivity, material costs, and project financial controls.
  • Proficiency with construction project management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with healthcare, higher education, manufacturing, industrial facilities, or other complex commercial projects is preferred.

Important Qualification: Candidates must have direct project management experience with a self-performing commercial electrical contractor. Experience limited to electrical design, consulting, coordination, or subcontractor administration will not meet the core requirements.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company contribution.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Steady pipeline of large-scale commercial electrical projects.
  • Dedicated estimating and BIM/VDC resources.
  • Opportunities for project ownership, leadership, and career growth.
  • Collaborative team environment.
