We are looking for a Commerce Director who oversees the commerce business for Vogue and GQ across Germany, Italy, France, and Spain.

The Commerce Director is a key managerial role in the Commerce Organization, reporting to the Global Executive Director of Vogue and the Global Senior Director for GQ. This individual is responsible for developing the overarching commerce strategy for GQ and Vogue, driving performance to meet ambitious growth targets. The role will lead a dedicated team of writers and editors with an extensive cross-functional network including editorial, product, marketing and data analytics to deliver against revenue and profit objectives.

Your main responsibilities will include: Editorial & Content Strategy

  • Lead the commerce editorial and content strategy across Vogue and GQ for the mentioned markets, developing distinctive, authoritative and commercially successful shopping content that reflects each brand's unique editorial voice and audience.
  • Align with the global commerce content strategy while identifying regional nuances, audience behaviors and market-specific opportunities to inform local editorial direction and drive growth.
  • Define a multi-platform content strategy across onsite editorial, newsletters, social media, video and emerging formats, developing innovative franchises and storytelling opportunities that drive audience engagement and commercial performance.
  • Own the forward-looking commerce editorial calendar, identifying key fashion, cultural, seasonal and retail moments to develop compelling content and integrated campaigns across both brands.

Commercial Strategy & Business Growth

  • Own commerce revenue performance across Vogue and GQ, developing and executing long-term growth strategies while responding to emerging commercial opportunities and trading performance.
  • Develop a differentiated commerce proposition that delivers value to readers, strengthens editorial authority and creates sustainable revenue opportunities.
  • Oversee the merchandising and product assortment strategy, ensuring product curation, category mix and brand portfolio support editorial storytelling, audience interests and key commercial metrics.
  • Develop strategic retail and brand relationships, collaborating with Global and Regional Partnerships teams to grow revenue through affiliate, hybrid and bespoke editorial-led commercial opportunities.

Audience, Product & Performance

  • Partner with Editorial, Audience Development, Social and Marketing teams to grow commerce audiences, strengthen engagement and maximize content distribution across owned and external channels.
  • Use audience insights, search trends, shopping behaviors and commercial performance data to inform editorial planning, identify growth opportunities and optimize content performance.
  • Collaborate with Product and Data Analytics teams to establish reporting, monitor weekly trading and improve traffic, click-through rates, conversion and revenue.
  • Work with global commerce and product stakeholders to evolve the shopping experience, improve product discovery and develop new commerce capabilities across Vogue and GQ.

Leadership & Operations

  • Lead, inspire and develop a high-performing commerce editorial and production team, fostering a culture that combines editorial creativity, commercial awareness and analytical thinking.
  • Set clear editorial and commercial priorities, ensuring effective resource allocation, team development and operational excellence.
  • Oversee business planning, revenue forecasting, budgets and profitability, including personnel and operational costs.
  • Collaborate with senior editorial, commercial and global leadership to align priorities and deliver against business objectives.

Key relationships will include:

  • Global Executive Director, VP, Commerce Vogue & GQ and SVP Commerce.
  • Editors-in-Chief, Regional Editorial Leadership and Global Commerce Content teams.
  • Digital Directors, Audience Development, Social, Marketing and Partnerships teams.
  • Product Management, Data Analytics, Finance and Consumer Marketing teams.

What skills and qualifications you bring with you:

  • 5+ years of experience in commerce editorial, content strategy, e-commerce or affiliate commerce, ideally within a premium media, fashion or lifestyle business, with a strong editorial sensibility and understanding of the Vogue and GQ audiences.
  • Proven experience developing multi-platform content strategies across digital editorial, newsletters, social and emerging formats, with the ability to translate global priorities into locally relevant editorial opportunities.
  • Strong commercial acumen, including an understanding of affiliate commerce, merchandising and partnerships, with experience using audience insights, SEO and performance data to drive engagement and revenue growth.
