The Posting

About the company

Our client is a software company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Act as the founding engineer and technical lead for a new infrastructure group, reporting closely to senior technical leadership. Take charge of physical server deployments and their day-to-day operation, from vendor relationships through live production support. Write supporting software step by step as operational needs become clear.

What you'll do

  • Lead the infrastructure group as its first engineer and technical owner.
  • Work with colocation providers and hardware suppliers, including acceptance checks on new equipment.
  • Configure operating systems and drivers, and manage secure server access.
  • Stand up, automate, troubleshoot and run a live container orchestration cluster.
  • Track performance, maintain systems, write documentation and handle incidents.
  • Develop internal tooling over time covering areas such as machine setup, health monitoring, APIs, job scheduling and network and storage layers.
  • Check and validate every piece of code, configuration and live system, including work drafted with AI tools.
  • Travel to datacenters when deployment and operational work calls for it.
  • Help build and lead the team as it grows.

  • A track record of taking accelerated-compute hardware from first installation to steady production use.
  • Experience deploying and running physical server infrastructure, working with datacenters, colocation sites or hardware vendors.
  • Experience writing production-grade software in a low-level language such as Go or Rust.
  • Demonstrated relevant work and sound practical judgment.
  • Willingness to provide a separate writing sample.

Bonus points

  • Prior experience mentoring, hiring or leading engineers.
  • Background in Linux administration and site reliability work, including services, patching and diagnostics.
  • Experience running large server fleets.
