The Posting
THE ROLE
Constellation builds ConstellationOS, an intelligence and forecasting layer for satellite and ground-network operations. We are looking for a Founding Engineer to build the platform and ship the models that run on it. You will work directly with the founders and own large parts of the system end to end: services, infrastructure, security, simulation, and the path from research model to production. This is an early seat with real equity and real say in what we build.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and build the core platform: backend services, data pipelines for telemetry and forecasts, and the APIs customers integrate with.
- Own infrastructure and security, including commercial cloud, GovCloud, and on-prem deployments, CI/CD, and security requirements.
- Decide system architecture as the product grows, and write down the decisions.
- Take research models from the science team into production: serving, monitoring, evaluation against physics baselines.
- Build developer tools and simulation environments the whole team uses.
- Work with customers and government partners on pilots and integrations when engineering input is needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years building and running production software, or equivalent depth. Prior machine learning engineering experience strongly preferred.
- Strong in Python plus at least one of Go, C++, or Rust. Solid on SQL, containers, and cloud infrastructure (Docker, Terraform).
- Has owned a system from design through production, ideally in an early-stage team.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, wide scope, and shipping without much process.
- U.S. person required (ITAR).
