Job Description Summary

Job Description

The Field Engineering Program (FEP) is a structured entry-level development path that combines classroom learning, online training, and on-the-job experience. You'll work alongside seasoned TFAs to develop technical expertise in power generation equipment, build lean thinking habits, and develop the leadership skills you'll need as your career grows.

Upon successful graduation from the FEP, you will transition into a full Technical Field Advisor position — travelling to customer sites to support installation, maintenance, and warranty work on industrial rotating equipment.

What You'll Do

  • Install, maintain, calibrate, and repair industrial power generation equipment (gas and steam turbines) at customer sites, including emergency and preventive maintenance work.
  • Read and interpret electrical and mechanical flow diagrams, instrument diagrams, and perform dial and laser alignment and thermal growth measurements.
  • Provide technical guidance and on-site instruction to customer representatives on installation, operation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Prepare accurate technical reports, job status updates, and customer records to support current and future outages.
  • Work safely and consistently under GE Vernova's Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) policies — setting the standard for your team and the customer's contractors.
  • Support and coach other team members by sharing field engineering knowledge and contributing to a culture of continuous learning.

Who You Are

You're a practical, hands-on person who learns best by doing. You're comfortable in changing environments, calm under pressure, and motivated by solving real problems in the field — not sitting behind a desk. Whether you're just starting out or coming from a technical trade background, you bring curiosity and drive, and you're ready to build your career in a role that matters.

Required Qualifications

  • A technical or university degree in a relevant field — or a High School Diploma / GED (equivalent) with relevant experience in a field services or industrial maintenance role.
  • Some experience in field services, power generation equipment maintenance, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical diagrams, flow charts, and instrument drawings.
  • English proficiency (written and spoken).
  • Willingness and availability to travel extensively, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as field assignments require.

A formal degree is nice to have, but we are most interested in your total experience and technical capability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with Alstom, Siemens, or other original equipment manufacturer (OEM) power generation equipment.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities on a live site.
  • Clear communication skills — able to brief customers, write reports, and share knowledge with teammates.

Why GE Vernova

GE Vernova employees rise to the challenge of building a world that works. We offer competitive benefits designed to support your wellbeing and reward strong performance. We invest in your growth through structured on-the-job learning and a clear development path — the FEP is just the beginning. A career with FieldCore means real work, real impact, and the opportunity to grow as far as your ambition takes you.
