The Posting

About the company

Our client is a law firm.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take on a broad caseload of high-stakes disputes for institutional clients, owning matters from the first filings through trial readiness. The role also involves coordinating government inquiries that run in parallel with court cases and collaborating closely with senior partners.

What you'll do

  • Represent institutional lenders and financial firms in disputes in state and federal courts.
  • Run matters through every phase, from pleadings and discovery to motions, depositions and trial preparation.
  • Coordinate regulatory inquiries that overlap with pending court cases.
  • Partner closely with senior attorneys who lead the defense practice.
  • Support business development, with bonus opportunities for bringing in new clients.

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • 4 to 8 years of post-JD experience, with a primary focus on defense-side litigation for banks and similar institutions.
  • A track record of hands-on case responsibility, such as taking and defending depositions, drafting and arguing motions, and managing discovery, rather than review work alone.
  • A JD and a strong academic record.
  • Fluency in the consumer lending, securities and regulatory rules that commonly arise in these disputes.
  • Polished written advocacy, with a writing sample submitted with your application.
  • Active New Jersey bar admission, or admission in another state with the ability to waive in within about six months.
  • A stable employment history.
  • Commitment to working in the office 3 days per week.

Bonus points

  • Prior in-house legal experience at a financial institution, returning to private practice.
  • Lateral experience from a defense firm with a relevant litigation group.
  • A judicial clerkship in federal or state court.
  • Experience managing court and regulatory proceedings side by side.

Benefits

Compensation and benefits

  • Base salary: USD 154,000 to 185,000 per year
  • Origination bonus for business development
