About the role

Lesaffre Group is a key global player in yeast and fermentation. Lesaffre designs, manufactures and markets innovative solutions for baking, flavouring, healthcare and biotechnology. The Lesaffre Group is built around solid fundamentals backed by 160 years of experience. Lesaffre Australia Pacific, established in 1993, is a subsidiary of Lesaffre Group.

At Lesaffre Australia Pacific, we have a strong commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of all employees.

In this pivotal role, you'll be the single point of accountability for safety across the site, setting the safety direction and building a culture where safety is owned by every leader and employee. You'll combine hands-on delivery with strategic work, shaping and driving our site safety agenda and roadmap while ensuring we meet all legal obligations and parent company standards. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in creating a safer workplace for everyone.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure the site complies with all applicable OHS and workers compensation legislation, regulations, codes of practice and standards
  • Implement Lesaffre Global OHS policies, standards and mandatory rules at site level, and address any gaps against local legal requirements
  • Maintain the site safety management system, including policies, procedures, risk registers, permits and records
  • Act as the site contact for regulators, insurers and external auditors
  • Act as the site subject matter expert and single point of accountability for occupational health and safety
  • Develop, own and deliver the site annual safety plan, objectives and improvement priorities
  • Advise, coach and challenge the site leadership team on safety risk, obligations and performance
  • Manage the end-to-end process for injuries, near misses, hazards and property damage events
  • Lead investigations using structured root cause methodology and implement effective controls
  • Own site safety management and incident reporting system
  • Drive engagement through toolbox talks, safety walks, behaviour-based safety conversations and campaigns.
  • Build reporting confidence so hazards and concerns are raised early and without blame. Coach leaders to hold effective safety conversations.

About you

  • Formal qualifications in OH&S
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in HS&E within an FMCG and multinational environment
  • Experience in Injury management, Workcover claims and injury management
  • Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator Training (desirable)
  • Experience in working in a Lean manufacturing environment (desirable)

Only applicants with the legal right to live and work in Australia will be considered
