About DESRI

DESRI (formerly D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments) is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects throughout the United States. We have acquired or developed approximately 13 gigawatts of contracted capacity across a portfolio of over 85 renewable energy projects in 24 states.

At DESRI, our culture is grounded in rigorous analytics and thoughtful risk-taking, with a strong emphasis on creativity, intellectual curiosity, and continuous improvement. We operate with lean teams that prioritize efficiency and minimize unnecessary bureaucracy, enabling individuals to take ownership and move quickly. We value open, constructive dialogue and believe it leads to better outcomes. Above all, we are driven to go the extra mile and support one another, fostering a collaborative environment built on accountability, integrity, and care.

About the role

DESRI seeks talented, intellectually curious, and highly motivated individuals interested in launching their careers in renewable energy and infrastructure. We welcome applications from undergraduate and graduate students approaching graduation who are interested in exploring full-time opportunities across DESRI's Physical teams.

DESRI's Physical teams span Asset Management, Construction, Engineering, Development, Preconstruction, Project Management, and Project Delivery. Together, these teams support the development, design, construction, delivery, and operation of utility-scale solar, battery storage, and wind projects throughout the United States.

Analysts work alongside experienced professionals to evaluate opportunities, solve complex problems, and support projects across various stages of the renewable energy lifecycle. Depending on individual interests, academic background, and business needs, candidates may be considered for opportunities across one or more teams.

This posting is intended to identify emerging talent for potential full-time opportunities rather than recruit for a single team or immediate opening.

What you'll do

Responsibilities will vary by team and may include:

  • Asset Management: Support the operational and commercial management of renewable energy assets through performance analysis, reporting, contract administration, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Construction: Assist with the execution of projects under construction, including project schedules, budgets, contractor coordination, equipment procurement, and risk management.
  • Engineering: Contribute to technical analyses, design reviews, and engineering evaluations across electrical, civil, structural, energy storage, and other disciplines.
  • Development: Support the evaluation and advancement of renewable energy projects, including commercial, technical, permitting, interconnection, land, and environmental considerations.
  • Preconstruction: Assist with project planning, cost estimation, constructability assessments, scheduling, and contracting strategies.
  • Project Management: Support cross-functional coordination, planning, analysis, and execution of renewable energy projects across different stages of development and construction.
  • Project Delivery: Help advance projects from development through financing, construction, and commercial operation by coordinating technical, commercial, legal, financial, and external stakeholder workstreams.

Across these areas, Analysts have opportunities to develop analytical, technical, commercial, and project execution skills while gaining exposure to the renewable energy industry.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree, with a strong preference for candidates graduating in 2027.
  • Demonstrated academic and/or professional achievement, intellectual curiosity, and an interest in renewable energy, infrastructure, engineering, construction, or related industries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively within lean, cross-functional teams.
  • A proactive mindset, willingness to take ownership, and enthusiasm for tackling complex challenges.
  • Candidates pursuing degrees in engineering, business, finance, economics, environmental studies, construction management, mathematics, or other relevant disciplines are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior internship, research, or project experience is valued but not required.
  • At DESRI, we consider a wide range of factors to determine your compensation. We rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, location, skills, and experience. The expected annual base salary for this position is $90,000 to $110,000.
  • Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, paid time off, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.

This posting is intended for students approaching graduation who are interested in exploring full-time opportunities with DESRI. Specific team placement, responsibilities, office location, and anticipated start dates will depend on business needs and candidate qualifications.

DESRI's Recruiting team will review applications and connect with candidates whose interests and experience align with current or anticipated opportunities.
