Build Something That Matters

Every road, school, hospital and major construction project starts with quality materials. As a Plant Supervisor at Heidelberg Materials, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our customers receive the highest standard of ready-mixed concrete, safely, efficiently and on time.

We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, leading by example, maintaining high standards, and delivering outstanding customer service. If you thrive in a hands-on operational environment and want to be part of a business that helps build the UK's infrastructure, we'd love to hear from you.

Based at our Cross Hands Concrete Plant, you'll oversee the day-to-day operation of the site, ensuring the safe production and delivery of quality concrete products while maintaining excellent site standards. Working closely with the District Operations Manager, Order Office, drivers, customers and contractors, you'll be responsible for ensuring the plant operates safely, efficiently and in line with company procedures.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the safe and efficient operation of the concrete plant
  • Producing high-quality concrete that meets customer specifications
  • Coordinating daily production schedules and customer orders
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards across the site
  • Monitoring stock levels and ensuring materials are available for production
  • Carrying out routine inspections, maintenance checks and defect reporting
  • Operating batching plant and loading shovel equipment where required
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise plant performance
  • Building strong relationships with customers whilst delivering excellent service
  • Creating a positive safety culture for employees, contractors and visitors

What We're Looking For

You'll be someone who takes pride in maintaining high standards and enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Experience within concrete, aggregates, asphalt, manufacturing, production, construction materials or a similar industry
  • Previous supervisory or plant operations experience
  • Strong awareness of health, safety and environmental standards
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
  • A customer-focused approach with excellent communication skills
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above)
  • Experience operating mobile plant, batching systems or loading shovel equipment would be advantageous, although training can be provided for the right candidate.
