About the company

Our client is a law firm.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Run contract, warranty, lien and business tort disputes independently, from opening stage to conclusion, including courtroom and arbitral proceedings. The role suits an experienced litigator who works with little supervision, contributes to client development and oversees colleagues.

What you'll do

  • Independently handle a broad range of commercial disputes, including contract and warranty claims, lien and bond claims and business torts.
  • Shepherd cases from their opening stage to their close, including courtroom and arbitral proceedings.
  • Develop litigation strategy for state and federal court matters.
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions, including summary judgment motions.
  • Prepare pleadings, briefs and other substantive legal documents.
  • Handle written discovery and take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses and experts.
  • Take part in mediations, settlement conferences, hearings and trials.
  • Keep clients and opposing counsel informed about case developments and strategy.
  • Track deadlines and caseloads and make sure court rules and scheduling orders are followed.
  • Guide and oversee less senior lawyers and support personnel.
  • Support business development and client relationship building.

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • Six to ten years of progressive litigation experience.
  • Admission to the Colorado bar, or admission expected within about one month.
  • Graduation from an accredited US law school.
  • Trial or arbitration experience, with the ability to describe results in concrete detail.
  • Experience litigating contract and business tort matters.
  • Experience taking and defending depositions.
  • A proven ability to manage complex matters independently from start to finish.

Bonus points

  • Experience with lien and bond claims under state construction statutes.
  • Experience in Colorado state and federal courts.
  • Prior work with a smaller or independent legal practice.
  • Construction or defects litigation experience.
  • Some portable client relationships, though a book of business is not required.
  • A stable tenure history.
