The Posting

About the company

Our client is a healthcare technology company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own the design and build of new web applications and internal tools from concept through production. You will turn loosely defined requests from non-engineering colleagues into polished, useful software, and help set engineering practices as the first person dedicated to this area.

What you'll do

  • Build a new web application for external users that presents existing internal data in a clear, well-designed interface.
  • Rebuild an existing data dashboard from scratch, owning its UX, visual design and implementation.
  • Partner with scientific, manufacturing, operations and engineering colleagues to understand how they work and shape the right experience for each group.
  • Create internal applications and front-end services that support day-to-day operations, including permissions, automated email follow-ups and coordination with outside vendors.
  • Take new product features from idea to production across the full stack, making sound architectural choices.
  • Extend and improve internal systems so they keep pace as the business and its volume grow.

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • Strong design sense, shown through a portfolio, personal site or side project with thoughtful UX flows.
  • Full stack engineering experience owning both frontend and backend, with tools such as React and Python.
  • Ability to carry design ideas through to implementation independently on both sides of the stack.
  • Hands-on UI/UX design experience with clear evidence of good taste.
  • A background in a small, early-stage company with minimal bureaucracy, or a record of strong product ownership at a larger organization.
  • Comfort turning vague requests into finished software without a detailed spec, designer or product manager.
  • Curiosity and the ability to pick up new domains quickly; no scientific background needed.
  • Ability to work on-site five days a week.

Bonus points

  • A history of releasing polished products that everyday, non-technical users have adopted and evaluated.
  • Experience building data-heavy interfaces such as dashboards and visualizations.
  • Prior founder experience or having been among the first employees at a company.
