The Posting

About the company

Our client is a law firm.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Manage a busy transactional construction caseload for property-side clients, taking matters from first intake through completion with little oversight. The work also includes litigating court petitions tied to site access, and calls for quick turnaround and sound independent judgment.

What you'll do

  • Prepare, negotiate and finalize the contracts that govern building projects, including agreements with design professionals and site-access arrangements.
  • Carry a high-volume docket where deadlines are counted in days.
  • Bring court petitions that seek entry onto adjoining land so that building or demolition work can proceed.
  • Negotiate against opposing lawyers when adjoining owners press for steep fees or onerous terms.
  • Collaborate daily with a small team and benefit from guidance by a seasoned senior lawyer.
  • Take part in regular team sessions to go over live files and emerging legal questions.
  • Help with the firm's marketing and business development activity as your tenure grows.

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • 6 to 10 years of transactional construction law experience gained at an established construction practice.
  • Hands-on experience with New York court proceedings for compelled property access under the state's real property statute.
  • A track record advising property owners and developers on building contracts and agreements with design professionals.
  • Strong skills in drafting and negotiating contracts from the owner's side.
  • Familiarity with temporary access and license arrangements for work next to neighboring properties.
  • JD from an accredited law school and admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Ability to run complex matters independently, from intake to close, with minimal supervision.
  • Comfort with fast-paced, high-volume transactional work.
  • Willingness to be in the office 4 days per week.
