The Posting
We are looking for skilled Mechanical Fitter / Excavator Drivers to operate excavators on civil
engineering projects while also carrying out mechanical repairs and maintenance on
excavators and other plant equipment. This is a dual-role position requiring both machine
operating and mechanical fitting experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators safely and efficiently
- Excavation for drainage, utilities and underground services
- Ground reduction and site preparation
- Digging around live services with precision
- Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on excavators
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on excavators and plant equipment
- Minimise equipment downtime through effective maintenance
- Complete daily machine inspections and maintenance records
- Follow all site health & safety procedures
Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience operating tracked excavators
- Strong mechanical fitting experience on construction plant
- Competent working around live underground services
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults
- Good understanding of hydraulic and diesel systems
- Valid excavator certification/licence
- Strong commitment to health & safety
