The Posting

Eagles Engineers (an entity of CoMade) is a strategic partner specialising with in-house design, design management, engineering, procurement, construction, completions and commissioning. We bring together the best engineers locally and from around the world to provide truly end-to-end solutions for our clients that enable them to realise their vision. Our clients can have confidence that what we meticulously design, can be delivered, seamlessly and efficiently.

Eagles Engineer’s vision is to become the foremost project delivery partner recognised for best-in-industry solutions. Strong culture and core values are what separate Eagles Engineers from the competition. They believe in building and setting a reputable culture, recognising and rewarding their people who represent those core values either onsite, with clients, or in the local communities.

About the role:

As our Secondary Systems Engineer, you’ll own the protection, control, metering, SCADA and communications design for HV substations and BESS projects. Your work will ensure faults are cleared safely and selectively, operators can monitor and control the plant locally and remotely, and every design meets the requirements of network service providers and AEMO.

  • Develop the protection philosophy and single line protection diagrams for 66 kV, 33 kV and LV systems.
  • Design protection schemes for transformers (differential, REF, overcurrent, Buchholz, winding and oil temperature), MV feeders and RMUs, busbars, and earthing/auxiliary transformers.
  • Coordinate protection with the network service provider where upstream circuit breakers clear transformer faults, including intertripping and anti-islanding.
  • Design substation and plant control systems: bay controllers, interlocking, local control cubicles and HMI.
  • Define the SCADA architecture linking switchgear, RMUs, SUTs, battery/PCS controllers and the power plant controller.
  • Design IEC 61850 station bus and process bus systems, redundant networks (RSTP, PRP/HSR) and time synchronisation (PTP/GPS).
  • Produce schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, panel layouts, IO lists and protection settings files.
  • Prepare FAT and SAT procedures; witness factory testing of protection and control panels.
  • Lead secondary injection testing, scheme and end-to-end testing, SCADA point-to-point checks and energisation.
