Looking for Philippines-based candidates

Job Role: Estimator

Compensation range: $1,800 AUD - $2,400 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: An established Australian business specialising in complex construction, structural steel, lifting solutions and specialised project delivery. The team is known for its practical, hands-on approach, attention to detail and commitment to delivering reliable outcomes across a range of projects, including government-related works. As the business continues to grow, it is expanding its estimating capability to support its ongoing project demands.

Role Overview: As our Estimator, you will own the estimating process from drawings to tender. You will complete quantity takeoffs, build clear Bills of Quantities, and run the tender process with subcontractors and suppliers. You will work closely with our Australian team, who review and finalize each estimate with you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret architectural, structural and steel drawings and specifications
  • Complete accurate quantity take-offs, with a strong focus on structural steel
  • Build clear, well-structured Bills of Quantities (BOQ) in Excel
  • Prepare and issue tender packages to subcontractors and suppliers from our approved list
  • Track tender responses, follow up on pricing and compare quotes side by side
  • Prepare complete estimates for review and sign-off by the Australian team
  • Keep estimating files, templates and records organised and up to date
  • Support admin and process improvement tasks during quieter periods

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
  • 3+ years of construction estimating or quantity surveying experience
  • Proven experience completing takeoffs
  • Confident reading construction drawings and specifications
  • Advanced Excel skills for building BOQs and pricing schedules
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with clear and timely communication

Nice to Have

  • Experience estimating for Australian construction projects
  • Exposure to crane, rigging or heavy-lift projects
  • Experience with takeoff software such as Buildsoft, Bluebeam or PlanSwift
  • Familiarity with Procore and Microsoft 365
  • Experience on government or civil infrastructure projects

Why you’ll love this role

  • A long-term, full-time role with a stable, growing Australian business
  • Direct collaboration with a close-knit Australian team
  • Varied, hands-on project work across steel, cranes, rigging and building
  • Room to grow and shape how our estimating function runs

Work Arrangement & Expectations:

This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.

To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
  • Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
