ABOUT CARI
The Cari Network is building a blockchain-based payment system powering real-time, 24/7 movement of digital money across the traditional finance and digital asset ecosystems. A pre-launch startup, we’re creating an entirely new category of financial infrastructure that brings cash on chain through tokenization while powering the full spectrum of payments for our network — banks and most importantly, the customers they serve.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You will own major parts of the Cari platform end to end — the management dashboards our bank partners use, the TypeScript services behind them, interbank settlement workflows, and the integrations that connect us to bank systems and third-party platforms.
This is a generalist role on a small team. You'll move across the stack, take on the highest-leverage problem each quarter, and support services running in production. You'll work closely with product, design, DevOps, and partner-facing teams to make the Cari experience fast to adopt, secure, and reliable for bank partners.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build and evolve our bank-facing management dashboard: bank onboarding, user and role management (RBAC), transaction monitoring, settlement operations, interbank book transfer tracking, and developer tooling such as API keys and webhooks.
- Design and ship the TypeScript backend services that power those experiences — orchestration, bank, transaction, bilateral netting, and settlement APIs.
- Build and maintain integrations with bank partners and third-party platforms, including provider adapters, webhook-driven flows, and real-time event updates.
- Model and evolve the PostgreSQL schemas behind core banking entities, with the correctness and auditability of financial data demands.
- Raise the engineering bar: automated testing, CI/CD, observability, release engineering, and deployment practices in collaboration with DevOps that let a small team ship safely and often.
- Work with product and design to turn tokenization complexity into familiar banking primitives rather than crypto concepts.
- Write the documentation, integration guides, and reference implementations that let bank partners adopt Cari without hand-holding.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience building production software, with a focus on backend services and cloud application architecture.
- Strong expertise in TypeScript across both the front end and the back end.
- Deep experience with React, modern component architecture, state management patterns, and data-heavy workflows.
- Solid Node.js experience building REST APIs and event-driven services (we use Fastify on Node 24).
- Comfort owning a feature from schema to UI
- Experience with asynchronous workflows, webhooks, and keeping UI state in sync with backend transaction states.
- Experience building responsive, polished, high-quality user interfaces for complex workflows.
- Strong product sense and attention to usability, implementation quality, and maintainability.
- Experience with cloud application architecture, microservices, event-driven messaging (e.g., Kafka), and durable workflow orchestration (e.g., Restate).
NICE TO HAVES
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, containerization, and deployment orchestration (e.g., AWS, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Mature CI/CD and testing practice — GitHub Actions, node-tap on the backend and Vitest on the front end, and meaningful test coverage.
- Experience working with banking systems, fintech infrastructure, payment products, or interbank settlement mechanics.
- Familiarity with ACH, wires, RTP, FedNow, or other bank payment rails.
- Experience with observability, tracing, or audit logging in financial systems.
- Exposure to security and compliance expectations in regulated environments.
- Experience with theming, white-labeling, and multi-tenant product customization.
