The Posting

About the company

Our client is a financial technology company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Set up and run the finance and accounting function from scratch, partnering closely with the CFO. Handle daily bookkeeping through period-end reporting, define accounting policies where none exist, and streamline processes with modern tools. Over time the position can expand into a wider finance leadership remit with direct reports.

What you'll do

  • Manage payables, receivables, accrual-based ledger entries and the month-end close, aiming to reduce close time each quarter.
  • Handle loan-level accounting across the loan lifecycle, including funding reconciliations, credit facility activity, gain-on-sale and investor settlement.
  • Put in place and maintain written internal controls to support a SOC 1 Type II examination, and help the CFO prepare for audits.
  • Guide the move from the existing accounting software to a newer ledger platform, and spot repetitive manual tasks across finance and operational systems that can be automated.
  • Prepare financial reporting suitable for board members and lenders.
  • Recruit and develop an accounting team as the business grows.

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • Practical expertise in mortgage or structured credit accounting, such as origination, securitization, servicing rights and hedge accounting.
  • A minimum of 3 years in mortgage accounting.
  • Background handling payables, receivables, accrual accounting, month-end close and GAAP compliance end to end.
  • A track record of leading a period close, an audit or a finance systems rollout.
  • Comfort with technology and real interest in AI.
  • Good judgment in creating accounting policy when no precedent exists.

Bonus points

  • Active CPA license.
  • Hands-on use of AI or automation to cut down manual accounting effort.
  • Experience at a Big 4 accounting firm.
  • Prior time at a mortgage or fintech company.
