CNC Machinist

A precision machine shop making tight-tolerance parts for aerospace, defense and energy customers wants an experienced CNC machinist who can take a job from print to finished production. You'll own setup, tooling, program edits and first-article inspection on multi-axis and mill-turn equipment.

What you'll do

• Set up mills, lathes and mill-turn machines through first-part approval
• Choose tooling, workholding and fixtures based on part geometry and material
• Edit programs at the control (G-code, conversational or CAM output) to hold tolerance and finish
• Inspect first articles with CMM and hand tools, then adjust offsets to hold production in spec
• Solve chatter, tool breakage, drift and finish problems, and support automated and lights-out cells
• Coach CNC operators and keep travelers, production records and tool inventory accurate

What you bring

• 5+ years of CNC machining, including setup and program editing
• Multi-axis milling, turning or mill-turn experience
• Strong print reading and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
• Metrology: CMM, surface plates, micrometers, bore and thread gauges
• Experience cutting aluminum, steel, stainless and at least one exotic such as titanium or Inconel
• Command of speeds and feeds, toolpaths and workholding; can run several jobs independently

Nice to have: 5-axis or Swiss; AS9100; Mastercam, Fusion 360 or hyperMILL; CMM programming (Calypso, PC-DMIS).
