Job Description

Job Title: Resident Technical Solution Architect — Infrastructure & Systems
Years of Experience: 7+ years

Job Description

  • Map the environment: servers, domain, network, firewalls, DNS and certificates.
  • Find every background process: Windows services, Task Scheduler jobs, SQL Agent jobs, scripts and batch files.
  • Work out what each job does, when it runs, and to which systems it connects.
  • Trace network traffic to identify all inbound and outbound connections (APIs, SFTP, file shares, database links).
  • Review IIS setup, service accounts, permissions and security exposure — the portal is publicly reachable.
  • Check backups and help set up a safe copy of the environment for analysis.
  • Produce the infrastructure document, network diagram, batch job catalogue and runbook.
  • Work read-only on production and report progress daily.

Three-Month Plan

Month 1

  • Get access.
  • Find every server, service, scheduled job and network path behind the application.
  • Deliverables: Infrastructure inventory, first network diagram.

Month 2

  • Trace what each background job does, when it runs, and to which systems it talks.
  • Deliverables: Batch job catalogue, integration flows at network level.

Month 3

  • Validate findings, close gaps, and hand over the full picture.
  • Deliverables: Infrastructure document, network topology, runbook, risk register.

Requirements

Requirements

Must Have

  • 7+ years in Windows Server and network administration, including hosting .NET applications on IIS.

  • Hands-on with Task Scheduler, Windows services, PowerShell and batch scripting.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server administration and SQL Agent jobs.
  • Discovery and tracing tools: Wireshark, Nmap, Sysinternals (Process Monitor, Autoruns, TCPView).
  • Clear documentation and architecture diagrams.
  • Fluent English and availability to work on-site in Cairo full-time.

.

Nice to have:

  • Airline or aviation systems exposure (ACARS, Lido, SITA, Type B messaging).
  • Arabic.

  • VMware or Hyper-V, and backup/restore tools.
  • Previous legacy discovery or migration projects.

Personal Attributes

  • A curious investigator — comfortable starting with no documentation and no one to ask.
  • Careful on live systems: observe first, change nothing.
  • Discreet with sensitive data and access.
  • Works closely with the .NET engineer and communicates clearly with the client.

Working Conditions

  • NDA and background check; the work involves sensitive crew and passenger data.
